10-Minute Recitation Challenge (Corrected)

 

This is a fun way to practice reciting memory passages while focusing on accuracy.  The goal is to recite as many passages perfectly as you can.  You can also use this as a way to isolate tricky passages that might need some extra work.

Each list has 30 memory passages that vary in length from around 20-100 words.  In the past, many of the passages called in the Oral Recitation Round have been within this range.  When I hear my kids recite, I find it easiest to have the memory passages printed but not cut out, and placed in a 3-ring binder.  This helps me to quickly flip to the correct passage and saves time because I don't have to set out the memory passage cards in advance.

While this is similar to a mock oral round, I find this is helpful to build confidence and also to practice a timed recitation while longer passages that may be called during the Oral Recitation Round are still being learned.

All About Scripture Memorization, Part 1

It could be said that the cornerstone of the Bible Bee is scripture memorization.  Participants in the Summer Study will have 2 passages each week to memorize.  These passages will vary in length depending on the age division you are in.  By the end of the 8-week session, you could have memorized as many as 14 Bible passages. Participants who are aiming to qualify for the National Bible Bee Competition will have an even more exciting challenge.  They will need to memorize approximately 600-1,000 verses!  How do children as young as 7 years old accomplish such a huge feat?
