2021 NBBC Mock Oral Rounds

Please keep in mind that these lists are for practice purposes only.  They are based on the lengths of passages from the Oral Recitation Rounds from previous years, but every year is different!  You can refer to the 2021 NBBC Rulebook for details about the Oral Recitation Round and how to prepare. 10-Minute Recitation Challenge (Corrected)

This is a fun way to practice reciting memory passages while focusing on accuracy.  The goal is to recite as many passages perfectly as you can.  You can also use this as a way to isolate tricky passages that might need some extra work. Each list has 30 memory passages that vary in length from around 20-100 words.  In the past, many of the passages called in the Oral Recitation Round have been within this range.  When I hear my kids recite, I find it easiest to have the memory passages printed but not cut out, and placed in a 3-ring binder.  This helps me to quickly flip to the correct passage and saves time because I don't have to set out the memory passage cards in advance. While this is similar to a mock oral round, I find this is helpful to build confidence and also to practice a timed recitation while longer passages that may be called during the Oral Recitation Round are still being learned.
